Through my second year I worked hard with the goal of developing and improving a variety of new skills that I had been introduced to in the first year. These were skills such as App and Web Design, Animation, User Interface and User Experience design, and branding. I also began experimenting and exploring new innovative technologies such as Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Projection Mapping, and 3D modeling. One set of skills I developed and which I think is particularly important are concept creation, planning and designing. I feel that during this time I massively improved my understanding of how to utilise design skills and how to successfully apply them to concept development in order to reach a set of goals and aims. I began developing an interesting user experience design, understanding where UX is applicable in design process and the importance of UX in planning, development and testing of projects. One key takeaway form this was that the user's thoughts, feelings and needs should be taken into account when designing almost anything.

This project was an old creative conscience brief and the aim was to create a digital solution for current world problem which we're passionate about. The topic which I chose to tackle was conscious consumption of clothes and my solution was Renoo. Renoo is an app which I designed to resell mass amounts of clothes - which are wasted by big brands - for a fraction of the price. The app was designed with the customer in mind, the purpose of the designs were to give the customer the feel good factor as they're helping the planet which I achieved by gamifying the selling methods. As well as the business concept and app, I also created branding for the business. The branding was designed to convey both the business' purpose and its empathy towards benefiting the planet.

In this project I expanded my design skills in three specialisms which were: HTML & CSS coding, Video and Animation, and Social Media. Following this I then had the choice to apply my learning from one of the specialisms by completing one of the optional briefs given to the class. I chose to further develop my skills in video and animation by choosing an optional brief that asked me 'to create my own visuals for a song which represents a strong cause such as war, politics and/or equality'. I chose to create visuals for 'Question Time' a politically fueled rap by a award winning artist Dave. I had never composed and created a full animation before so this was all new to me. The first program I chose to use was Adobe After Effects as I was already comfortable using it, and the second was Adobe Animate, which was brand new to me. I had no university support when using it the new software, so I'm quite proud of teaching myself.

This was a year long brief and we were working with Waterloo Uncovered, a registered charity who support veterans in an aim to help them recover and sustain a fruitful live after their experiences at war. Archeology is the key factor the charity use to support veterans as they work as a team to further understand The Battle of Waterloo’s true story along with finding interesting artifacts on the way. As well as helping veterans they are also aiming to educated the public on war and the impact it has on people. This was a team brief and our aim was to create a ‘phygital’ idea (Physical/Digital) which would educate the public on what goes on behind Waterloo Uncovered and the impact they have on their large community of veterans and archeologists. We looked for our content to be interesting, interactive and impressive. This brief was unfortunately disrupted by Covid19; the deliverable was originally going to use projection mapping but due to covid restrictions I switched this to Augmented reality and rapid prototyped an environment to visualise our event experience.
